Silicafume, also known as micro silica, It is an amorphous (non-crystalline)polymorph of silicon dioxide, silica. It is an ultrafine powder collected as a byproduct of the silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production. Silica fume is anultrafine material with spherical particles less than 1 μm in diameter, theaverage being about 0.15 μm, which have superpower activity index. This makesit approximately 100 times smaller than the average cement particle. The bulkdensity of silica fume depends on the degree of densification in the silo andvaries from 100 (unidentified) to 720 kg/m3. The main field of application isconcrete, grouts and mortars as well as refractory, ceramic ,etc.

APPLICATION:

I：Oil well grouting

Whether used for primary (placement of grout as ahydraulic seal in the wellbore) or secondary applications (remedial operationsincluding leak repairs, splits, closing of depleted zones), the addition ofsilica fume enables a well to achieve full production potential. Besidesproducing a blocking effect in the oil well grout that prevents gas migration,it provides these advantages:

The use of silicafume in refractory castables provides better particle packing. It allows for less waterto be used while maintaining the same flow characteristics. It also promoteslow temperature sintering and the formation of mullets in the matrix of thecastable. This produces a castable that has a low permeability to avoid gas,slag and metal penetration. Castables incorporating silica fume are strongerthan nonsilica fume containing castables especially at high temperatures with higher density they attain lower porosity and are more volume stable.
